Roman Kryklia, a Ukrainian juggernaut kickboxer, made history at ONE Fight Night 17 on Prime Video in Bangkok, Thailand by becoming a two-sport ONE world champion. He claimed the inaugural ONE heavyweight Muay Thai world title and added it to the light heavyweight kickboxing gold he already possessed. Kryklia’s speed advantage over the opponent was enhanced by using four-ounce gloves in Muay Thai instead of 10-ounce gloves in kickboxing, leading to his historic victory. His victory also earned him a $50,000 performance bonus from ONE Chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong. Kryklia is now eyeing a third championship belt, particularly the heavyweight kickboxing title, and is eager to defend his light heavyweight kickboxing title as well. He expressed his interest in winning the heavyweight kickboxing world title when it is offered by the promotion, following his win in the ONE heavyweight kickboxing world grand prix title in November 2022.
