The former wrestler Konnan alleged that CM Punk spoke with various WWE Superstars backstage prior to his return to Survivor Series: WarGames. Punk, who was released by WWE in 2014, came out of retirement to join AEW in 2021, but was later fired. However, the 45-year-old made a surprise comeback to WWE at Survivor Series: WarGames, and according to Konnan, he had conversations with other superstars backstage.
In addition, wrestling veteran Sylvain Grenier expressed his opinion that CM Punk should not face Roman Reigns, the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion. Grenier stated that a match between the two would not look good because Reigns is a dedicated worker and Punk has been out of the ring for too long. As for the possibility of other superstars taking time off after CM Punk’s return, another veteran suggested that it could happen.
Since Punk’s return, fans have shown interest in seeing him go up against Reigns once more, as they previously faced off in a one-on-one match in 2014, which ended in Reigns’ victory. However, based on the opinions of these wrestling veterans, it seems that a matchup between Punk and Reigns may not be in the cards.
