Sydney Sixers Women had a decisive nine-wicket victory over Sydney Thunder Women in the final league match of the Women’s Big Bash League 2023 on November 26. Adelaide Strikers also secured a win, defeating Hobart Hurricanes by 77 runs at the Sydney Cricket Ground. Laura Wolvaardt played an outstanding innings, scoring 73 runs off 65 balls for the Strikers. The Hurricanes struggled in their chase, ending with 87 runs in 16 overs. Tahlia McGrath took three wickets for the Strikers. In the second match of the day, the Thunder struggled to score, with captain Heather Knight top-scoring with 38 runs. The Sixers easily chased down the target, with Ellyse Perry’s unbeaten 82-run knock leading them to victory.
With the conclusion of the league phase, Brisbane Heat and Sydney Thunder will face off in the eliminator on November 28, while Perth Scorchers will play against the winner on November 29. Adelaide Strikers have advanced to the final on December 2. As for the leading run-scorers and wicket-takers in the Women’s Big Bash League 2023, Beth Mooney of Perth Scorchers leads with 539 runs, followed by Chamari Athapaththu of Sydney Thunder. Sophie Day of Melbourne Stars leads in wickets, with Annabel Sutherland in second place, and Lauren Cheatle in third. Ashleigh Gardner moved up to fourth place after taking a four-wicket haul for the Sixers.
