India won yesterday’s T20I match against Australia by two wickets at the Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam. The high-scoring game saw Australia posting 208/3 after being invited to bat. However, the Men in Blue were able to chase down the big target in 19.5 overs.
Australia’s openers added 31 runs before Ravi Bishnoi (1/54) took over and knocked over Matthew Short. Josh Inglis and Steve Smith then punished the Indian bowlers with Inglis reaching his century off 47 balls. An impressive cameo from Tim David gave the Australian innings the finishing touches.
Chasing 209, India faced some early setbacks but quickly regained control with a fine partnership between Suryakumar Yadav and Ishan Kishan. Suryakumar clobbered nine fours and four sixes in his innings of 80, while Ishan scored a crucial half-century.
Despite Inglis’ century, Suryakumar was named Player of the Match for his captain’s knock in a challenging chase. The match ended in bizarre fashion with India winning on the last ball with a six, which did not count as the bowler had overstepped.
