ISL 2023-24: Latest Points Table following East Bengal FC vs NorthEast United FC

East Bengal clinched a significant 5-0 victory over NorthEast United in the Indian Super League (ISL) 2023-24 at the Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata on December 4. This triumph marked the Red and Golds’ most substantial win since joining the ISL in 2020, propelling them to the seventh position in the current league standings with eight points from seven matches, including two wins, two draws, and three losses. NorthEast United remains in sixth place with nine points from eight games.

FC Goa leads the league with nineteen points from seven matches, maintaining an unbeaten record. Kerala Blasters, Mohun Bagan, and Odisha FC closely follow, putting pressure on FC Goa. Meanwhile, Mumbai City FC holds the fifth position. However, Chennaiyin FC, Bengaluru FC, and Jamshedpur FC continue to struggle, occupying the eighth, ninth, and tenth spots, respectively.

Punjab FC and Hyderabad FC are still winless after playing eight matches each. Newly promoted side Punjab FC has garnered four points, while Hyderabad FC has only three points due to non-payment issues and tactical difficulties.

In their remarkable ISL victory, East Bengal displayed unparalleled dominance, with Borja Herrera and Cleiton Silva scoring the first two goals before Nandhakumar and Silva added three more in the second half. East Bengal FC is set to host Punjab FC, while NorthEast United FC will welcome Hyderabad FC in their next fixtures on December 9 and 10, respectively.
