Jimmie Johnson Reunites with Hendrick Motorsports Legend as He Names Crew Chief for 2024 NASCAR Cup Series

Jimmie Johnson has announced that he will race in select NASCAR Cup Series races in 2024, with the details of his schedule yet to be revealed. However, the co-owner of Legacy Motor Club has disclosed that former Hendrick Motorsports legend Jason Burdett will be his crew chief for the upcoming season.

Burdett, who has spent the last 9 seasons in the Xfinity Series with JR Motorsports, is well-known in the NASCAR industry for his vital role in Jeff Gordon’s 2001 championship triumph. He previously worked with Johnson during his time at HMS and will now be joining LMC full-time.

Both Johnson and Burdett expressed their excitement about reuniting for the upcoming season. Johnson, in a press release, described Burdett as one of the nicest people he has met in the sport and expressed his genuine excitement about having him on board. Burdett, on the other hand, expressed his honor at being a part of continuing Johnson’s legacy.

In addition to the announcement of Burdett joining LMC, Evan Bensch has been promoted as the lead engineer for the team. Meanwhile, Johnson also released a list of three races he will drive in next year, with AdventHealth as the sponsor for these races.

The president and CEO of AdventHealth, Terry Shaw, expressed their thrill at partnering with LMC and the drivers for the upcoming season. This partnership marks an exciting new chapter for Johnson, who will be returning to racing with new sponsors and executives in the team.
