Mauricio Pochettino has confirmed that Chelsea are still in talks about potential January signings. He stated that they are open to continuing with the same squad despite their slow start to the season. The club has been linked with players such as Ivan Toney and Victor Osimhen, but they have not made any moves for them yet. They are still assessing the squad, with Christopher Nkunku yet to make his debut for the club.
Fabrizio Romano quoted the manager saying:
Meanwhile, John Obi Mikel has encouraged Napoli star Osimhen to join Chelsea. He mentioned on his podcast that Osimhen should come to Chelsea next season rather than going to Saudi Arabia.
Osimhen is a key target for Chelsea, but Arsenal is also interested in signing the forward.
Shaun Wright-Phillips has advised Chelsea that they need a ‘no-nonsense’ striker to compete for the Premier League title. He believes that the club cannot rely solely on Nicolas Jackson for goals. According to him, they need a striker like Haaland, Alvarez, Nunez, or Son, who can put the ball in the back of the net without hesitation.
Jackson was signed from Villarreal this summer for a reported £22 million fee. Nkunku, on the other hand, joined from RB Leipzig but has just started training after recovering from an MCL injury from pre-season.
